Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble
Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (BTE) is a resident professional ensemble that puts on a variety of productions and educational programs throughout the year. In 2014, they were one of 215 nonprofits that participated in First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania’s Raise the Region event. In cooperation with premier sponsor Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships, nonprofits throughout the region had a chance to raise money for their organization, which was then matched by Blaise Alexander. More than $1 million were donated in total for local nonprofits.
BTE has built a strong personal relationship with many people over the 36 years they have been in operation. Throughout the year the organization has done a great job at promoting the Raise the Region event through mailings, social media announcements and program advertisements. In fact, their donors are actually starting to look forward to the giving event each year. This year, BTE hosted a special dessert reception after their performance on March 13 entitled “Giving to BTE is a Piece of Cake.” At the reception, they invited patrons to give online and taught them how to use their mobile devices to donate.
All the extra effort paid off, raising BTE a whopping $27,463 during the 2014 Raise the Region event! Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships presented them with the Grand Prize of an additional $5,000 for having the most unique donors—231—bringing their grand total to $32,463! The funds will help support BTE’s ongoing operations, including seven annual productions, a Women’s Solo Performance Festival, educational activities at Camp Victory and throughout the community, and a professional acting internship program. The organization has seen such success through Raise the Region that they’re already planning for next year’s event.
